The Mini-Z world has been buzzing nonstop about one car: the RTRC RTA V3 1:28 Chassis Set. Even though it officially releases next month, it has already made a massive statement on the global stage by taking first place at the recent World Championship. Anytime a pre-release chassis wins at that level, you know something special is coming.
And the hype isn’t slowing down.
A Championship-Winning Platform Before It Even Ships
What’s fueling all the excitement is simple, the RTA V3 didn’t just show promise; it proved itself by winning against some of the best drivers and best chassis in the 1:28 world. The win pushed this car straight into the spotlight and made racers everywhere start paying attention to what RTRC has been developing.
It’s rare for a new chassis to have this much momentum before it even hits stores.
What Makes the RTA V3 Different?
There are already a ton of strong contenders in the 1:28 scene - PN, Reflex, GL, Atomic - so for a new platform to stand out, it has to bring something truly new. The RTA V3 does exactly that with a handful of bold engineering choices.
Servo Mounted All the Way Up Front
One of the biggest talking points is the servo placement. Instead of the typical mid-chassis or offset layouts, the RTA V3 pushes the servo forward, right near the nose of the car.
This does a few things:
-
Shifts steering weight toward the front wheels
-
Gives a more direct steering feel
-
Helps balance left-to-right response
-
Improves initial turn-in on tighter tracks
It’s a design choice that stands out immediately — visually and on the track — and early racers say the car feels incredibly planted entering corners.
Ultra-Low CG Battery & Mass Layout
The RTA V3 uses a flat LiPo orientation, keeping weight extremely low. Combined with a reworked chassis layout, everything sits tightly packed and close to the track surface, reducing roll and improving stability at high speed.
This kind of layout helps the car stay flatter through sweepers and transitions, especially on high-grip RCP or carpet tracks.
Precision-Milled Chassis Construction
RTRC went all-in with a more rigid, precisely machined chassis block. This improves consistency and removes the flex and slop that can show up on lighter or less stiff platforms.
The goal is simple:
more predictable handling, tighter tolerances, and a race-ready feel right out of the box.
Updated Geometry for Sharper Steering
The new front-end geometry is designed to give smoother, more balanced steering no matter how your links are set up. This helps the car react the same in left and right turns, something that experienced Mini-Z racers know can be tricky on some chassis.
What Comes in the Kit
The RTA V3 chassis set is expected to include:
-
Full ball bearing set
-
Titanium diff shaft
-
Ball differential
